Pengertian Passive Voice

Passive voice adalah struktur kalimat di mana subjek dikenai suatu tindakan atau aktivitas oleh objek lain. Passive voice sering digunakan ketika fokus utama adalah pada tindakan atau objek yang dikenai tindakan, bukan pelakunya.

Struktur Passive Voice

Struktur dasar passive voice adalah: Subject + to be (am/is/are/was/were/been/being) + Past Participle (Verb 3)

Contoh Kalimat Passive Voice

• Active: The chef cooks the meal. Passive: The meal is cooked by the chef.

• Active: They will complete the project. Passive: The project will be completed by them.

Penggunaan Passive Voice

Passive voice biasanya digunakan dalam situasi berikut:

1. Ketika subjek tidak diketahui atau tidak penting:

   • The window was broken.

2. Ketika kita ingin menekankan tindakan atau hasil daripada pelaku:

   • A new school was built last year.

Pembentukan Passive Voice

Untuk membentuk passive voice dari kalimat aktif, ikuti langkah-langkah ini:

1. Pindahkan objek kalimat aktif menjadi subjek kalimat pasif.

2. Tambahkan to be yang sesuai dengan tenses kalimat aktif.

3. Ubah kata kerja utama menjadi bentuk past participle.

4. Tambahkan by (opsional) diikuti pelaku asli (agent).
